Shiloh "Goodbye, You Suck" Video Shoot Recap!

So yesterday I spent a lot of time at Shiloh's video shoot for her song "Goodbye, You Suck".

A few days ago, I got this comment on my entry for Shiloh's Operator (A Girl Like Me) video contest:

"haii adam, i remember you, i met you at the mall when i did that warchild thinger! nice brittany spears costume, lol XD i want a pink wig now. i like the vid, i hope i see you on wed. ^_^ -shiloh p.s. yes this is better then me, looks like i've got some serious competition, lol"

So I started begging my Mom to go to her video shoot. I found out yesterday at 12:30 PM that I was going, and I had to be there for 5 PM.

So a lot had to be done in little time. My Mom and I had to call the number to get directions from Union Station, we both had to have either a shower or a bath, I had to shave and great dressed, and pack everything I needed.

I had a 2 minute long shower, and I shaved in one minute, missing several spots. We got to Toronto at 3:47 PM, and took a cab ($24!!!) to the shoot location. We arrived at about 4:20 PM, and then we had to find a way to cross the street. My mom insisted we cross the street "now!" So we stepped in a huge 1 foot deep puddle, and for the rest of the days my shoes, socks, and part of my pants were soaked!

I had no idea where to go, so I just followed people. About 30 people, including myself, were there as extras for the shoot.

So at about 6 PM they started bringing people in for the video. They had everyone change places several times, and I ended up being behind a guy who was almost my height, and when he was jumping up and down when they were filming, he towered over me.

After one of the first takes, Shiloh recognized me, and said "Hey Adam! How are you?". I believe I responded "Good, how are you?" and she said something like "great!" and then later mentioned that she loved my video with the wig. So I said "Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!" then a guy named Sam who was pretty much the guy in charge of everything said "I liked it too!" and I said "Thanks...", but the perkiness just wasn't there as much as when Shiloh said she liked my video.

A couple guys were trying to see if Sam still remembered my name, not realizing that was what they were doing, I said my name was Adam. "You weren't supposed to tell him!" Then I asked Sam "What's her name?" as I pointed to Shiloh.

So after about 8 takes or so, water was handed out to everyone on set. I drank the whole bottle immediately. After jumping up and down, dancing, and looking like I was having fun for about 8 takes, I could hardly stand. The guy who towered over me, who I later learned his name was Justin, said to Shiloh one of my favourite quotes ever now. "My ass is a swimming pool".

After a bathroom break, and a few more takes, there was a pizza break. I had two pieces of the Hawaiian pizza. My Grandma use to make the best Hawaiian pizza ever, so I was reminded of that while I enjoyed it. Shiloh came in the pizza room, and asked me why I was being so silent, and I said "He (I pointed to Justin, I didn't know his name at the time) is always talking, and I can't get a word in!" And she just replied "You can't get a word in edgewise." So a girl there asked me if Shiloh and I go way back, and I said "I met her about 2 months ago at the Eaton Centre. She was busking for War Child".

So the next few takes was when the fun started. Shiloh asked me to come closer to her during the filming, so she could grab my hand and sing near me. I also brought out my pink Britney wig, and put it on, as she laughed. I said jokingly "I'm going to wear the wig, so when they cut and paste the clips together, in one shot I'll have no wig on, and in the next I'll have it on!" and she replied "Do it!" The creative director informed me I could not, so I threw the wig aside.

They took a few shots of the crowd, and encouraged people to look like they were singing along. I did that the whole time, so it wasn't hard for me to do. I noticed the camera was pointed at me a lot, and I think I looked directly at it too much... I tried not to, by doing some of my old school out of date dorky dance moves... After downing three bottles of water, and a break, there was a final scene, involving strobe lights. Only about 30 seconds long, but since the set was dark except for the strobe lights, everyone was hitting and running into each other. It was so much fun though! There were about 5-10 takes... So 5-10 times I stepped on someone, someone stepped on me, I hit someone, or someone hit me!

After that it was a wrap! So after that Shiloh was signing posters, and taking pictures with people. I was taken out of line by the creative director, and he asked me to get my pink wig, as he wanted a picture with me. So I took a picture with him in the wig. And then I got back in line, and a couple girls commented on my wig, saying they liked it. When I was pretty much next in line, Shiloh said she had to go perform a song for everyone that was going to be on her album, and before she did I said I had to go, so I had her sign the poster and take a picture with me. After that another girl said she liked my wig, and I explained how I was Britney Spears for Halloween, and didn't shave for 2 weeks.

After getting a text message from my friend Kim, saying that the bus left from Toronto later than I thought it did, I was able to stay and hear Shiloh's performance after all. I seriously thought I was gonna miss the bus before Kim sent me a text...I didn't say I had to leave to get my poster signed faster.

So after that I got paid $50, and that payment came as a surprise to me. I would've done it for free! A few people there had their agents tell them to do the video, and hadn't even seen her first video until they were told. And I just found out on Shiloh's MySpace, and remembered after Shiloh commented on my video. (By the way, I finally learned the difference between an agent and a manager, it was an agent I had when I was supposed to be in a Zellers commercial at 4 or 5 years old.)

So after that the creative director offered me and my Mom a ride to Union Station (hooray for no $24 cab back!) and we arrived. My Mom had forgotten it was a 2 door car, and slammed the door on my leg! So after jumping up and down from 6 PM - 11 PM, I had a door slammed on my leg! Major pain!

Anyways, everyone at the shoot was excellent and did a great job at treating me and my Mom well! I totally want to do that again! And now I know that I have real life fans of me and the pink wig!

By the way, here's the video I did for Shiloh's contest:

And here's the poster I got signed:

Enid - Yeah, it was!

Emma - It was a lot of fun, I'm starting to get impatient over waiting for the video, so I hope it's posted soon as well.

I've listened to Operator a lot, and still love it. I think Goodbye, You Suck is catchier though!
